That Game Company Technical Game Designer, Luke Williams, and Gameplay Engineer, Kyle Holdwick, have shared a little bit about Sky: Children of the Light’s latest season, the Season of Nesting. You can check out their insight and details in the video feature above.

The Season of Nesting puts Sky kids front and center with a new location ready to be made into something truly special. You can hop in on the Season of Nesting right now by downloading Sky: Children of the Light for free!

The Nesting Guide awaits players at the soon-to-open Nesting Workshop in Aviary Village. Head over to see the Seasonal items that can be unlocked—special display stands offer cosmetics and, especially, wood-crafted furniture and decor to use in your Nest and Shared Spaces…or perhaps in other environs for those who enjoy both interior and exterior design.

Season Pass holders will be able to unlock two Ultimate Gifts from the Nesting Guide, too: an outfit appropriate for a creative craftskid, and a special figurine that can both be used as a prop, and to switch outfits when you’re away from your closet. Pick any outfit items from your closet to display on the figurine. You can place the figurine anywhere from your Nest to your favorite realms, and Sky kids who pass by who also own the cosmetics the figurine is wearing can switch their outfits to match!

A Shared Space shrine in the workshop has also been set aside for you to set up in whatever style you want, or browse the workshop setups that other players have imagined.

Nintendo is currently gearing up for the launch of the successor to Switch, one of their most successful platforms of all-time. There’s a ton of pressure on everyone at the Big N to get things right, and plenty of people are working their butts off to make sure it’s smooth sailing ahead. There’s no doubt Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser is neck-deep in the planning as well, but it appears he also has some free time as well.

What is Mr. Bowser doing with his spare moments? Looks like he’s spending a lot of time on LinkedIn, and he’s not looking for a new job. Instead, he’s engaging in the comment section to weigh in on, of all things, plane etiquette.

We’re not sure how it came to be, but Mr. Bowser decided to share his two cents on a post from Chad Rogers, a partner at public affairs agency Crestview Strategy. Rogers had a rather odd take about passengers on planes that he felt needed to be shared on LinkedIn, and what he said didn’t sit well with Bowser. You can see how the exchange played out below.

Chad Rogers: As you make your way to your seat, rise from your seat, navigate the centre aisle, etc. a reminder you DO NOT HAVE THE right to touch other people’s seat backs. The seat [sic] on front of you is not there for you to stabilise or raise yourself (that is what an armrest is for). The seat you are in is yours, no other seat or seat back should be touched by you at any time. Thank you for respecting the miracle of flight.”

Doug Bowser: Rather arrogant and entitled comment. Some people may be challenged moving to thier [sic] seat (physical limitations, narrowness of seating areas, etc.). That said if a passenger should need to support themselves getting in/out of a seat they should be as gentle they physically can. PS. Where on your ticket purchase documentation are your ‘rights’ to the seat back or other ‘rules’ you speak of declared?

Chad Rogers: Entitled would be indicating you own everything not elucidated on a ticket on contract. Manners are clea, [sic] happy to help you out on them with the post. Seats are allocated by passenger, in fact printed on all boarding passes.

Doug Bowser: Manners are different from rights. I do see the arrogance is still prevalent however. Have yourself a good day.

After this exchange, Rogers decided to remove Bowser’s comments from the thread, as they clearly didn’t jive with the message he was trying to put out. When another commenter left another message saying, “Well said Doug Bowser,” Rogers left his own response by sharing a rather snide, “Who?”.

Again, we’re sure Mr. Bowser is very deep into planning for the Switch successor’s arrival in North America, but it’s a tad surprising to see him spending free time digging through LinkedIn comments. Mr. Bowser, you are free to do whatever you want outside of work, but we suggest playing some Nintendo games. They’ll definitely give you a lot more fun than never-ending comment wars will!

There are two things that are 100% true about the game industry. Game hardware has gotten much more sophisticated over the years, and games have grown in complexity with them. That second half of the above statement is one Nintendo is apparently keenly aware of.

During Nintendo’s Q&A with investors following their fiscal results briefing, Nintendo took a moment to discuss the current and future state of software development. Game development is already a laborious affair, and Nintendo believes the challenges and time required to build games is going to grow from here on out.

You can see what Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa had to say on the matter below. (Please note that this is a fan translation of the Japanese transcripts of the Q&A, courtesy of Nicolas10111 on Reddit.)

We believe that it is inevitable that game development will become longer, more complex, and more sophisticated in the future, but our lifeline is to offer new and unique proposals to our customers through game development, so we will continue to invest, including investment. We will actively work to expand our development resources.

Digital has been a big part of all game companies in the last decade, so much so that many studios have been releasing their titles digital-only. Rest assured, Nintendo will continue going the physical and digital round moving forward.

Nintendo recently shared their fiscal year results, and that was followed by the usual investor Q&A. During that meeting, Nintendo was asked about their efforts in the digital space, as digital sales continue to grow for Nintendo. While Nintendo will certainly expand their digital offerings as time goes on, they also remain committed to physical software releases as well.

You can see what Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa had to say on the matter below. (Please note that this is a fan translation of the Japanese transcripts of the Q&A, courtesy of Nicolas10111 on Reddit.)

Our basic policy is not to simply increase the ratio of digital sales, but to maximize sales of game software, including sales of packaged software, and this policy will remain unchanged in the future. Under these circumstances, we need to increase convenience for both customers who play the packaged version of the software and customers who play the downloaded version, and we hope to continue to make further improvements and innovations in the future.

There’s been a bit of a bidding war over the movie rights to Poppy Playtime, which was no doubt spurred on by the game franchise’s success, along with the hit status of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and the buzz around game-to-movie adaptations in general. Now we know that Legendary has won the rights to the adaptation, and they’ll be teaming with Mob Entertainment to create a live-action feature.

Legendary is set to develop and produce along with Mob Entertainment and Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan Montford. No specific details on this adaptation have been shared at this time, and that goes for writers behind-the-scenes, storyline info, or any actors associated with the project.

Poppy Playtime is a horror/puzzle adventure where the main goal is to stay alive. Try to survive the vengeful toys waiting for you in the abandoned toy factory and use your GrabPack to hack electrical circuits or nab items from afar. Explore the mysterious facility… and don’t get caught.

Developer Summerfall Studios has announced that they’re working on “Orpheus” DLC for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. There’s no release date for the Switch version of this DLC yet, but it’s confirmed to be on the way soon. You can check out the DLC’s debut trailer above.

When the Fates themselves have always written your story, what happens when you pick up the pen?

Play as Orpheus in this brand new story for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical! Orpheus’ story is arguably finished - until Hermes brings him back to the world of the living. With their help, you’ll guide Orpheus through the depths of mortal decision making - who to date, what to hope for, what instrument to rock out on…

Starring Anthony Rapp (RENT, Star Trek: Discovery), Erika Ishii (Dimension 20, Worlds Beyond Number) and written by David Gaider, Stray Gods: Orpheus is a comedic feature length experience that history buffs, hopeless romantics, and rock stars alike can enjoy.

Experience 6 brand new original songs, where each decision changes the song and the story. Composed by Austin Wintory, with lyrics by Simon Hall (Tripod), Montaigne (Jess Cerro) and new addition Tom Cardy (Red Flags, Artificial Intelligence), Stray Gods: Orpheus has hours of interactive music for you to explore again and again.

When the curtain has fallen and the show is over, who do you go home as? Choose to reject, embrace, or rewrite the stories the world expects of you. Is the mortal world ready for the return of Ancient Greece’s most infamous bard?

The nominees for this year’s class of the World Video Game Hall of Fame were announced Wednesday morning at The Strong National Museum of Play.

They are:

  • Asteroids
  • Elite
  • Guitar Hero
  • Metroid
  • Myst
  • Neopets
  • Resident Evil
  • SimCity
  • Tokimeki Memorial
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
  • Ultima: Ultima
  • You Don’t Know Jack

Three or four of these games will be chosen as winners later this year.

The World Video Game Hall of Fame each year pulls from thousands of nominations for the finalists for consideration for each class. Fans will also be able to vote for their choice as winner for their favorite finalists in March as part of a “Player’s Choice” ballot.

The Strong says the games that receive the most public votes formed one ballot and joined the other ballots submitted by members of the International Selection Advisory Committee, which is made up of journalists and scholars familiar with the history of video games and their role in society.

Like every year, the games were judged based on four categories:

  • Icon-status: the game is widely recognized and remembered
  • Longevity: the game is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over time
  • Geographical reach: the game meets the above criteria across international boundaries
  • Influence: the game has exerted significant influence on the design and development of other games, on other forms of entertainment, or on popular culture and society in general

UPDATE: This year’s Hall of Fame selections have been announced. Five games were chosen, and the games being inducted for 2024 include the following:

  • Asteroids
  • Myst
  • Resident Evil
  • Ultima
  • SimCity

A few months back, we reported on the collaboration between The Pokémon Company and the renowned Japanese Vocaloid, Hatsune Miku, titled “Project Voltage 18 Types 18 Songs.” This project promised 18 songs and accompanying illustrations, each representing a unique Pokémon type.

The eighteenth and final illustration was released back in late September, but it turns out there’s even more art to look forward to. These supplemental art pieces will release on random dates, but they’ll continue to showcase Hatsune Miku and Pokémon together. Along with that, the art will spotlight some other Vocaloid idols as well.

Today’s art is titled “Many Signs,“ and it was created by artist Posuka Demizu. Will this be the final release in this series? Only time will tell!
